Chief Mates (FG) Phase - II

Entry Criteria:     The candidate should hold a certificate of competency as Second Mate of a foreign going ship (Officer in charge of a navigational watch on ships of 500 GT or more) issued by Government of India and have approved sea –going service for a period of not less than 18 months for Phase II after obtaining 2M (FG) CoC.

Course Duration:     12 Weeks



Course Description

This course provides training for candidates appearing for Chief Mate (FG) Phase II. This course covers part of the education and training required under Regulation II/2 and aims to meet the standards of competence specified in Section A-II/2 of the STCW 1978, as amended. The course curriculum is based on the contents of IMO Model course 7.01, Master and Chief Mate and the course outline/ detailed teaching syllabus as specified in STCW 2010 circular no.11 of 2012.

FUNCTION I: NAVIGATION AT MANAGEMENT LEVEL
- Navigational Aids including Compasses
- Bridge Watchkeeping and Navigational Emergencies
- Engineering knowledge, Instruments and Control systems

FUNCTION II : CONTROLLING THE OPERATION OF THE SHIP & CARE FOR PERSONS ON BOARD AT MANAGEMENT LEVEL
- Naval architecture - II
- Maritime legislation
