Course Description

This course is designed to train the candidates in gaining practical knowledge and enhancing their skills in the use of instruments, equipment used on tankers and maintenance of the equipments in realistic scenario.

Course Objective



The officers on completion of the course:-
  • Will be able to apply knowledge gained understanding the controls and instrumentation of equipments used in oil tankers.
  • Will be able to understand critical areas for inspection, maintenance and overhauls to be done for cargo equipments.
  • Will have enhanced knowledge to calibrate various cargo tank atmosphere measuring instruments.
  • Will have a greater understanding to know operating principles of cargo tank level equipments.
  • Will give greater awareness towards maintenance of othercargo tank fittings like heaters, steam lines.
  • Understand better the safety features of the equipments and the methods of testing them.

Contents of the course

  • Operation, Calibration and routine maintenance of various types of Gas measuring equipments.
  • Operation and maintenance of Inert Gas Plant.
  • Internal Inspection of Deck water seal.
  • Tank content measuring equipment, Crude oil washing systems and calibration of PV valve etc.
